The blog itself
Reading this blog requires no account, sets no cookie of our own, and runs no analytics script. These pages are rendered on the server and contain no tracking JavaScript. We deliberately built it this way: a page whose only job is to be read does not need to follow the reader around.
What our servers record
Like any web server, ours writes an access log: the page requested, the time, the referring page, the browser's user agent string, and the IP address the request came from. Those logs are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse, are retained for a short period, and are not used to build advertising profiles or sold to anyone.
Advertising on article pages
Article pages may display a banner advertisement supplied by a third party advertising network. Ad networks typically set their own cookies and may use your IP address and browsing history across other sites to choose which advertisement to show. That activity is governed by the network's privacy policy, not ours, and it happens only on pages where a banner is displayed.
If you would rather not be tracked by ad networks, a content blocker that blocks third-party scripts will remove the banner without affecting anything else on the page.
Links to other sites
Articles link to Instagram's own documentation, to research, and to other publications. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site and their privacy policy applies. We name the destination in the link text so you know where you are going.
If you place an order
Ordering from the Instagram growth service this blog links to is a separate activity that happens on this domain but outside the blog. Placing an order means creating an account and paying, and it necessarily involves storing the details that requires. The storefront's own privacy practices apply there, and they are described at the point of checkout.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the review date at the top of this page changes with it. Questions about any of the above can be sent using the contact link in the site footer.
